Hi
I am a young Haitian-American Christian.
I live in Long Island.
I am very glad that there are people who are doing missionary work in Haiti.
I recently began thinking about an audio version of the Creole bible to help the iliterate.
I am very grateful.

God bless you, Yolify.
I do not know much about the availability of an electronic Creole Bible there, but your idea sounds interesting.
It might be that that idea is being used. It certainly should be a great tool. It would seem that it might require much relatively expensive hardware, batteries, etc.
I have been wondering about simple wordless pictorial gospel tracts that could be passed out among the many that cannot read. I have thought of designing one. I have not been able to learn of their availability in Haiti.
There are many American missionaries in Haiti that invite people to come there for about ten days to experience the missionary work. You might be able to find something about it on the internet.
That is how I got involved.
God is working with you. God bless your compassion about the Haitian people.

Thank you so much. I actually just found a website that has the Haitian creole Bible in Audio.
what website did you use for the 10 day missionary experience thing.
I have been looking into it but nothing.

The mission with which we have been working is Good Shepherd Ministries in Milot, Haiti and their website is http://www.gsmi-haiti.org.
This site can give you some ideas about what they do and how to get involved.
This mission is primarily a school for about 1500 students in 3 cities.
It is education oriented with the new vocational school and a college extension will start up next year.
The mission is usually in need of workers to do physical work on the facilities.
The mission provide facilities and support for several medical teams each year.
One does not need a medical education to work with the medical teams since they usually can use coordinators, etc., as they work with many hundreds of children over 10 day periods.
Another mission of which I am aware is Baptist Haiti Mission http://www.bhm.org/bhm/lang-en/home.html.
If you do not feel comfortable with Baptist missions, there are many others with sites on the web.
Please keep me posted if you follow up.

Hello, Ingrid.
Thank you for writing.
My wife and I were in Haiti earlier this year for about two months to start up a vocational school with training in computer skills and sewing.
I had been one time before for 10 days. It was a wonderful experience and we both want to somehow continue to help the Haitian people.
You are very intelligent and pleasant people and most need help. We met and worshiped with many great Haitian Christians.
I know very little about Port-au-Prince, so I don't know how different it is from Cap Haitien, where we spent much time, or Milot, where we lived.
I know that Port-au-Prince is the largest city.
I am very happy that you are studying your bible.
It is the major way that God talks to us. It can be very difficult since Satan does not want us to read it. We should all pray for each other that we all would continually seek God's will through His Word.
Are you reading 1 Kings?
That is very good since knowing Bible history will help us to understand the whole Bible easier.
I hope that you will recognize Satan's subtle efforts to keep you from reading it and you will ask God to help you overcome Satan's efforts to get you to stop. I am reading and studying through 1 Samuel.
God bless you.

Waow you went to Cap Haitian.
Did you visit the citadelle and labady?
Thank you for your words of encouragements. How is your school going.
It's been a while sincs I have not been to cap Haitian.
Port au Prince is the capital.
A lot of the people from a lot of the villages moved here to flee poverty.
And the city was not build for all those people.
The situation is very difficult.
A lot of kids on the streets.
Yu are married ?
That's great and how many kids do you have. I have a daughter and she is 5 months old. I' m a single mother.
and it's hard but with the help of my Lord I know I m going to make it. I know it was the right thing to do to keep it.
Anyways may God bless you and your family.

Hello, are you Ingrid?
Yes, married 48 years with two married sons and four grandchildren.
We have been blessed.
Yes, I have been to the Citadelle twice.
It is certainly a magnificent structure and I weep for the frightened Haitians that had to build it in fear that Napoleon would attack.
It had to be very difficult.
But most of all my heart ached for the poor Haitians along the road up to the Citadelle.
Are you a new Christian?
I would love to hear your testimony about how you came to know the Lord. Would you share that?

In the two cities that I was in, I saw many very nice homes that were in the process of being built.
I was told that they are being built by Haitian-Americans who may retire in Haiti?
Do you think that many Haitians will return to Haiti after retirement, or even before?

I have received so many responses that I am overwhelmed.
Some have sent me their email addresses to correspond.
Mine is lbinx at yahoo.com.
I hope there has not been a misunderstanding.
I am not a full time missionary and do not have a current project in Haiti.
I just want to communicate.

I know that Voodoo is practiced in Haiti.
Do some people profess to be Christians and practice Voodoo also?

I don't think so, some people using that like cover, some of them using Jesus like white sheet to mixed everything together, Christian follow only Jesus Christ...
(Reply)
by jack, replying to thony on 04-Oct-09 08:41 PM
That is true, Thony.
Although Voodoo is not much of a factor here, many people also claim the name of Jesus falsely.
At the Great White Throne judgment, He will say to them. "Sorry, I never knew you."
Thank you for your testimony.

Don't judge no one, don't that to no one you, let's Jesus be the judge, only thing you have to say to them, good thing...
(Reply)
by jack, replying to thony on 06-Oct-09 08:31 AM
You are correct, Thony.
God is the only judge about a person's ultimate destiny, but He gives us the ability to determine wrong direction here on earth.
We just can't say what the final decision will be.
We should pray that everyone will receive Jesus as Savior.
That is the only way to escape eternal hell with Satan.
We are to be kind to everyone.
