You can go for God is nothing, another way you can go with them if you not a christian yet. But it is not what you put on you, it is about your heart.

YES, YOU CAN BECAUSE I AM A MEMBER OF A SMALL HAITIAN CHURCH IN BROOKLYN NY, THE NAME OF THE CHURCH IS "OPEN EYE CHURCH OF GOD" BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THE ONLY THING WE CARE IN THAT CHURCH IS WORSHIP THE LORD. WE DON'T CARE ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE WEAR MEN OR WOMEN, JEANS, BOOTS, WE DON'T HAVE A DRESS CODE.WE JUST ENJOY BEING TOGETHER TO LISTEN TO THE WORD OF THE LORD THAT THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON FOR A PERSON TO GO TO CHURCH, MALHEUREUSEMENT SOME OF US FORGET ABOUT THAT.

there is a dress code for Haitian churches, and I don't think it is right.
Having to dress up for church, exclude those who cannot afford to have different outfits for sundays.
I think that it is wrong.

I truly think there is a secret dress code within tha Haitian culture when it comes to church.
It is embedded into our culture to dress like we are going to a festive occasion.
I recently moved to reading, PA about 2 yrs ago and my family and I go to a predominently white catholic church.
Many of the people there wear jeans and tees and many of the teens and young adults wear short shorts and tees and hoodies (in case it gets cool in church).
It is very crazy to me that people want to represent God like that. Going to church on sundays, I kinda felt uncomfortable for these church goers beacsue theye didn't dress appropriately, but it shows you that every culture and race is different.
Somtimes, going to church in drssy clothes makes me feel so dressesd up because no one else dresses up except us.

The lord says "come as you are" so yes, you can go to church with your jeans and t-shirt.
You are going to worship the Lord. Let me ask you a question though, if you were going to meet the President of the United State and the first Lady at the white house, would you go as you are?
would you rush to leave the place?
would you wear that jean and t-shirt.
My guess is you would not. You would be patient and listen to them speak, and be presentable in their presence.
So, if you would dress up for the first couple, why wouldn't you for the Lord. For He alone deserve all the glory, all the honor and all of our praise!
So, go as you are, you know how Haitian people hold themselves in the presence of the Lord, the way you dress, I fear will tell everyone where your heart is with Lord. Of course, don't dress up for people, only you and the Lord knows where your heart is. So go as you are or make the effort that you would to be presentable as you would in the presence of the first couple.
Either way, go worship!
Love in Christ!

What do you have in mine when you are going to church?
Are you going to please the people or you go to give praise to the king of king?
If it is to please the people, You are in the wrong place if it is to praise the lord come as you are.But remember where you are going. If you go to a church you see people dressed up to their neck that does not mean you have to do the same. But you have to respect their way.If you do not feel comfortable with it find an other church.
where your soul can be blessed ok.Listen Guys When you go to a musk You have to dress properly or you are not going to enter the Musket
Even in some Parties you can not enter with Blue jeans or sneakers.
Come on guys remember we are Haitian we love to look good. .

Here is what I think about the "Haitian Silent Dress Code".
When Haitians go to church, they believe that they are meeting with the Highest Authority in the universe (God, the creator), therefore, they dress for the occasion.
Let's look at it this way...
If any of us had a chance to secure a meeting with a high official such as a president, a king, or even a governor, wouldn't make sense that the person present him/herself in a formal manner?
If, the answer to that question is "yes", then the issue is solved.
If we dress formally to meet a human being with a high title, how much more should we do it for God?
That, however, does not mean that God would reject you if you were not formally dressed. Our God is merciful and gracious, He does not measure us based on our apparels, and dress code.
Therefore, do not let your clothes keep you away from church.
The Lord sees the good and noble intent of your heart.
As a matter of fact, the Bible in the New Testament tells a story how it is bad if two people walk in your church: One is well dressed, and the other poorly dressed, we say to the one well dressed, come to the front and say to the other stay in the back.
Christians should not judge people based on their clothing only. I believe there is a saying in French that says:"L'habit ne fait pas le moine, mais il le fait reconnaitre"
So, you decide....

Dear friend, you have to ask youself this,"If i was home and being able to afford clothes would i dress anyhow to go praise the Lord?"
If the answer is yes!well you have been desrespectfull to the Lord all along but if the answer is no.He is the king of kings he'll understand that you are away and simply want to be there to praise him and please your loving mother in the process, I say you get up and go with your heart full of joy

That's why I don't go to Haitian churches any more. If I put on a pair of jeans and go to a Haitian Church every one in the room will see me as the EVIL in person, and they're not even better than you, Haitian religion is like a sheet to cover what they're doing bad out there. No one can live close to them, they don't have a heart.Au contraire, if I go to an American Church I will be welcomed by every single one in the Church.
That I've tried allready, and I saw the big differrence. That doesn't mean I don't have nice dresses to go to church, it was a test. I have a part time job in THE GAP. You see what I mean, I have big discount in BANANA REPUBLIC and OLD NAVY. They are not serving GOD, they are serving who's dressed up nicer or better, and who they know have more money in the Church or the pastor.

The Lord said come as you are. Jesus just wants you to come praise him with fellow worshipers.
He wants you to come and give Him thanks for all that He has done for you. The Lord said come as you are. so yes you can wear jeans and a shirt.
the true question is what is mommy going to say?
