    Q: Baptism

    Question
    Subject: Baptism
Category: The Bible in everyday life

I just recently have accepted Christ as my lord
and savior and Romans states Romans 10:9 that if
you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and
believe in your heart that God raised Him from the
dead, you will be saved;. I wholeheartedly believe
in the Lord, now I feel that once Ive accepted
Christ and doing so Ive seen that everything I was
doing wasn't good. So Ive stopped smoking, stopped
drinking, and I see everything in a new light. So
my grandmother has been taking me to this church
for a few week and I talk to the priest and I tell
him that I'm ready to be baptized. Now he told me
this can't happen in a day which threw me off a
bit because Jesus and his disciples were baptizing
people in the same hour that they heard the word
and believed. I wasn't looking for it to be that
minute any but more like next Sunday or whenever I
would be able to. So he tells me he would like to
have a meeting with me and my aunt who also would
like to be baptized, and more so adds in that I
would have to be a member of the church for a
while before I am even eligible to be baptized.
Now to me this way is a bit misconstrued since it
isn't going with what the bible proclaims a
baptism should be. Im just looking to see if Im in
the wrong about questioning the way this church is
or if I should just go find a different church.
Thanks ahead of time and God bless. "...Repent
and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of
Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And
you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." ~
    Acts 2:38, (Acts2:41)
1Those who accepted his message were baptized, and
about three thousand were added to their number
    that day.
